10 HEALTHY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS TO MAKE

New Year’s Resolutions, while admittedly difficult to keep up all year long, are a great time to reassess your health and happiness. There’s something about a new year that inspires people to begin anew.

“Losing weight” is one the most common resolutions, but we have ten healthy (and actionable!) resolutions you may not have thought of that’ll make 2014 your best year yet.

1. Drink more water every day. Buy yourself a stylish BPA-free water bottle, stock up on lemons, cucumbers, and other natural flavors, or keep a pitcher chilled in your fridge to make drinking water more enjoyable.

2. Cut back on over the counter and prescription medicines (if you can). There are natural remedies for many types of ailments and pains that can get you feeling better without the drugs.

3. Start taking a daily health supplement. If your diet generally lacks from a certain type of nutrient due to your cooking habits or preferences, taking a multivitamin or natural supplement can help fill the gaps.

4. Take more steps every day. Getting healthier doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym. simple pedometers or fancier wearable technology makes tracking your activity more fun and tangible.

5. See a chiropractor or physiotherapist, even if you’re healthy. They can recommend ways to maximize your health and can help stop small issues from becoming a larger issue.

6. Quit smoking. If you’re finally ready to kick the habit, 2014 is a GREAT time to do it! If you need extra help, there are acupuncture and homeopathic remedies that can aid you.

7. Reduce your stress by starting a bi weekly or weekly massage routine. Massage has a lot of benefits, and your peace of mind is worth the time!

8. Have chronic pain? Make 2014 the year that you try to reduce it. Low-Intensity Laser Light Therapy has shown to provide pain relief in some of our clients.

9. Volunteer. Studies have shown that helping others can increase our own happiness. Find a cause that you are passionate about, and pitch in to help!

10. Get more sleep. A lack of sleep has been linked to obesity and increased risk for type two diabetes. Plus, no one likes a grump. Get your sleep!
