What is Trigeminal Neuralgia
The trigeminal nerve is the largest of the 12 cranial nerves. It’s responsible for sending and receiving sensory and motor nerve information from the brain to the face and jaw.
Factors which trigger the face pain include smiling, talking, chewing, and sometimes even exposure to elements such as the wind. Sometimes, people experience warning of an episode, such as numbness or tingling which may precede by hours the intense face pain. For others, the onset of pain is immediate and intense. The cause of this neuralgia is uncertain, although a common understanding is that the nerve may be compressed by adjacent blood vessels.
Bioflex low intensity laser provides effective pain management for this very painful condition. It’s effectiveness is supported by clinical research, and well documented. Red and infrared light energy emitted by the bioflex laser stimulates the production of ATP, the main fuel for cells. Targeting injured cells, this light energy can restore normal cell structure and function. For those who suffer with trigeminal neuralgia, with sufficient treatment, a full cure is possible for many and with it, the prevention of future attacks.
At our clinic, trigeminal neuralgia is one of the few conditions where Bioflex laser really is the main component of the treatment plan. If anxiety and/or stress is thought to complicate the symptom presentation, massage and/or acupuncture are offered to supplement the treatment plan.
How our clients describe pain when they have trigeminal neuralgia:
- Burning, shooting, stabbing around the eye, cheek and/or lower face
- Very intense pain, may come and go; and appears to worsen over time
- Tingling, numbness or hypersensitivity on one side of the face
These are the main symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia, but the words do not express the reality of the misery experienced by many who suffer with this painful condition.
How we treat clients with trigeminal neuralgia:
- Bioflex low intensity laser therapy
A point to ponder:
- Trigeminal neuralgia is most often treated initially with medication, and when medication doesn’t work, with more technologically complex medical procedures. The bioflex laser offers effective pain relief and the potential for a cure for many clients with this condition.
